About us
Made by players, for players
An independent team of PC role-playing game players. We play every game we recommend and compare it directly against Skyrim.
Why this site exists
Search for an alternative to Skyrim and you get the same recycled lists: twenty games, one paragraph each, no explanation of what actually feels similar. We wanted the opposite — fewer games, compared honestly against Skyrim, with every fact traceable to its source.
Independence
Alternative Skyrim is an independent fan project. We are not affiliated with Bethesda Softworks, ZeniMax Media, Nine Dots Studio or any other publisher, and no publisher pays for placement in our rankings.
How we work
Our full methodology — scoring, source tiers and update schedule — is on the How we pick page.
